Plymouth History

Plymouth, MI was established in 1825 and became a city in 1932. The towns first settlers were farmers from Preston, Connecticut, Keziah Benjamin and William Starkweather. Luther Lincoln was one of the first business owners in the area, in 1825 when he was granted two land patents by the federal government. He eventually built a saw-mill and a home on the property. Although outside the city limits of Plymouth, it was still considered a part of the Plymouth landscape.
